Secret Love

On view 26/7-27/8 at Gustav Adolfs torg

From 26 of July to 27th of August at Gustav Adolfs torg we are exhibiting art by four Chinese artists who explore identity, sexuality and norms. These issues and subjects are sensitive in China and are taboo in Chinese art.

In China, the economic development of recent decades has been as disruptive as it has been rapid, resulting in profound social change. The focus on the individual has increased; traditional outlooks and values have been challenged. This development is reflected in the visual arts.

The Secret Love exhibition was shown at the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in 2012 and has since been seen worldwide by more than half a million visitors. More than fifty works of art from the show have been collected by the the National Museums of World Culture. In the exhibition we present a selection of them.

Artists in the exhibition: Jiang Qigu, Wang ZiXiyadie, Yang Guowei
Curator: Si Han, curator at the National Museums of World Culture
